Since
it was first set up in 1978, the Motability Scheme has helped millions
of people with disabilities to access a car that is ideally suited to
their needs. If you are eligible for the Scheme and are considering
whether it is the right option for you, take a look at our guide to the
benefits of leasing a car this way. A quick summary of the key benefits are:
From choosing the right model to having it delivered, the Motability process is simple and straightforward. Once you have ordered your car and the agreement is set up, the lease is paid directly with your weekly mobility allowance. The lease includes all of your running costs except for fuel; RSA Motability insurance, breakdown assistance and aftersales servicing and maintenance are all covered.
All or part of your weekly mobility allowance is used to pay the weekly lease payment. If there is money left over each week, this is paid to you directly by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Veterans UK, depending on who funds your allowance. Many of our Motability vehicles are available with zero advance payment, meaning you can get behind the wheel without paying anything in advance. The Motability Scheme also offers financial help for people who need assistance to afford the car or adaptations that they need.
If you need to have your car modified, we can organise this for you when you order it. We can arrange for driving, stowage and access adaptations, and many of these are free of charge. If your needs change partway through your Motability agreement then we can easily carry out adaptations with minimal disruption to your life.
One of the main advantages of leasing a car through the Motability Scheme is convenience. At Birchwood we can show you a range of suitable cars, help you with your application, and support you throughout the agreement with high-quality aftersales care.
We have dealerships across Sussex and at each site we have specially trained Motability advisers. All of our Motability specialists have plenty of experience in helping people choose the right car for their requirements. They can also offer clear, honest advice on all aspects of the Scheme, including adaptations and aftersales support.
